Varicose Vein Treatment

Radiofrequency Ablation (RF Ablation) and Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)

What is it?

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that appear just under the skin most commonly on the legs and calves. They develop when the valves inside the veins weaken and fail to keep blood flowing upward toward the heart. Blood flows backward and pools in the lower leg, causing the veins to stretch and bulge.
Left untreated, varicose veins are a progressive condition. Over time they can cause persistent pain, swelling, skin changes, and in more advanced cases, open wounds called venous ulcers. They are a medical condition not merely a cosmetic concern.

and minimally invasive intervention when needed — ensuring patients can return to their normal lives quickly with minimal discomfort.

Who is this for ?

Visible, twisted, or bulging veins on the legs or calves

Leg heaviness, aching, or fatigue especially at the end of the day

Swelling in the ankles or feet

A burning or itching sensation around the lower leg

Skin discolouration or hardening around the ankle

A previous venous ulcer or wound that has healed

What happens During the Treatment ?

Treatment begins with a Doppler ultrasound scan to map the faulty veins and identify exactly where the valve failure is occurring. This guides the treatment plan.

RF Ablation and EVLA are performed in the clinic under local anaesthesia. A thin catheter is inserted through a small skin opening no large incisions and no stitches are required. The catheter delivers controlled energy that closes the faulty vein from inside. Blood naturally reroutes through the healthy veins nearby.

The procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Patients walk out of the clinic the same day and can return to normal activity within one to two days.

Same-day procedure

Local anaesthesia

No hospital admission

Minimal scarring

Walk out the same day

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

Many patients with mild varicose veins can be managed conservatively with compression stockings, regular walking, and lifestyle adjustments without any procedure. A procedure is only recommended when conservative management has not been effective or when the clinical picture warrants it.
